Morgan Duris

Morgan, 15 years old, was a freshman at Sylvania Northview High School where she played principal second violin in her high school orchestra. Morgan studied violin with Mr. Song for over sixteen months and made great achievements and progress in her music. Mr. Song recalls, "I found her to be a very bright and talented young musician." Although she did not go on the trip to Africa, Morgan supported TIYO by playing beautifully at our TIYO Benefit Concert for Africa in June of 2008 and the January, 2010, benefit concert for the Toledo Secondary School in Africa. She volunteered her time to help students half-way across the world and whom she has never met and that shows true character and generosity.

Morgan really brought life and light to the Toledo International Youth Orchestra. She made a lot of friends in the orchestra and was always ready with a smile and helping hand. She was making tremendous progress as a musician. She was always prepared to give one hundred percent during rehearsals and TIYO functions.

Morgan will be greatly missed by all her friends in TIYO!

In her honor, a scholarship was created to send a TIYO member who would not otherwise be able to go on the Vienna / Hungary trip. The scholarship was awarded to cellist Ian Pribe. Read about the award in the Toledo Free Press!
